Today I observed an IELTS reading class, which focused on students who prepare for IELTS exam. At the beginning of the class, the teacher, Yazmin, was ecstatic to say hi to students, and she checked with students’ attendance and absence. She previewed the content of class with students. Her objective is that students are able to know how to match heading in the IELTS reading. During the process of teaching, she showed a video about how to match heading. After that, she asked students’ suggestions after they were watching the video, which is extremely efficient way to elicit students and increase their participation. Besides, she gave the clear explanation and examples of matching heading to students. It deepens student’s impression and help left-behind students to catch up. What she achieved her objectives is to assign students to do individual work and correct answers with all students by asking them to read each paragraph out loud. The student had strong engagement and desire while learning because they noticed that teacher skipped one paragraph and pointed out immediately. The whole class is very flow and well-organized. The interaction between teacher and students is frequent and efficient, and it is obvious that they have built good rapport already. The student all respect and trust teacher, and the teacher are warm and approachable.
