The Andrea’s class mainly focus on IELTS learner. As I see, they are proficient in English, and they have grasp basic grammar rules and wide vocabulary. The teacher review with student by checking with students and encouraging them to ask questions. In the class, Andrea give a clear explanation and specific examples of question type named True False Not Given in IELTS. After that, she stared to practice this question type with students altogether. In the process of practice, she read the questions out loud and nominated students to answer the questions.
What I really appreciate during the processing was that teacher kept asking open questions to elicit students to give the reason of the answer they picked when she knew that the students got right answer. Another thing was that she will not directly tell students that their answers were wrong. she will ask other students for help answer the question when a student teacher picked got wrong answer. The class had a good flow and well-organized. Also, the students were extremely engaged in the class. What good quality teacher have is that she created a student-centered classroom, and each student has chance to make their voices in the class.
What I will take away from observation is to create a warm and friendly learning environment for students and build a good rapport with them.
